| Classes - Obedience
Since
inception, the Grand Forks Kennel Club has provided the general public
with education and training for purebred and crossbred dogs. We
instruct people, with dogs of all breeds, mixes, sizes, and ages, to
train their dogs to be good companions. All our instructors have
trained and shown their own dogs in either AKC breed
competitions, obedience, rally and agility trials. We have set our
training standards high in accordance with the American Kennel Club
(AKC) for conformation, obedience, rally and agility. We strive
to give the highest quality of training available while continually
updating our training methods. We offer education for YOU - teaching
you how to teach your dog to obey your commands. The actual training
and practice is your responsibility. We believe in FIRM, FAIR,
CONSISTENT training with heavy doses of PRAISE and LOVE. Our
methods are based on positive motivation and reinforcement.
Name: Puppy Kindergarten Ages: under 6 months of age Length: 7 Weeks (1 night of orientation, 6 nights of training) 45 minutes per class Price: $45 Location: GFKC Training Center - Grand Forks Prerequisite: None Description: Puppy
kindergarten is enormously helpful to humans and dogs, and provides
about the best entertainment possible. For a small fee you get to
participate in something that is mentally, emotionally, and physically
healthy for you and your dog. Your puppy needs this learning
environment during critical development stages. If socialization during
these stages is missed, some puppies will never be as successful as
they could otherwise have been at fitting into your home or whatever
else you hope to do with your dog. This class starts with a registration/orientation session. You will
meet your instructors, and they will provide the guidelines for the
class and the rules of the Training Center. This is an ideal
opportunity to ask questions and get great advice! The class has two
components - a training session and an informational portion. In
training we start with the very basics such as leash training, sit,
down, and coming when called. In the informational portion we provide
you with the proper tools to raise a healthy, happy, well-behaved
puppy. Topics that may be covered include grooming, crate training,
toys, vet visits, and nutrition. Notes: No dogs first night!
